hypothermia with D&V????

i know i know
i go on and on about it.

i was more poorly than usual when i woke up
stomach/abdo pains, diahorroea, nausea
and freakily (but not for the first time) hypothermia.
overnight id dropped to 36.1 C
been in bed most of the day wrapped up in blankies. back to normal temp now (37.1) but my feet and hands feel cold still.
my pulse dropped too. 66 bpm. which isnt toooo low. but for me its v low. im usually tachycardic. 90-120. in hospital i had a sleeping pulserate of 80-90. ive had ECG's, nowt wrong with my heart. im just generally tachy.
so for me today was unusal.
but if i were to see a doc i doubt they see much wrong.
pulse is up to 80 now.
so i think im getting better.
but its all a bit odd, you know?
(slight oddity this week too, i have had oily skin since i was 12. non stop. this week its like my face stopped producing sebum. no oil. peculiar)
sooooo still waiting for hospital app.
bit confused. the letter i had from the hospital said id been referred to general medicine, but when i saw my gp yesterday he said id been referred to rheumatology (joint pain)

i was actually a bit scared this morning. ive dropped to 36.4 before. but 36.1 is low even for me. and given the fallen pulse i started to think maybe whatever is affecting my cns the last 5 months has now started affecting my autonomic nervous system too. and that controls heartbeat and breathing and stuff, so im thinking thats a very bad thing.
but if i went to A&E they wouldnt do anything. they dont investigate chronic conditions.
im breathing, conscious, my pulse is still in the 'normal range'
im not bleeding and have no broken bones.
theyd tell me i have a tummy bug and to rest.

just ranting

Re: hypothermia with D&V????

doraluma,

Just read your post. I wouldn't be too concerned over your body temperatures. Not being fluent with celcius I checked the net and found the conversions into farenheit running from a low (according to your readings in C)of 96.98F to 98.78F = 97F and 99F respectively if I'm not mistaken. Seems from what I know of temperatures that the conversions indicate if as we're told here in the states that 98.6F is generally considered "normal" body temperature, which is a relative term, as we're all somewhat unique with respect to our body temps. I think you'd fall in the "normal" range when cionverted to C scale. Some other factors to consider, would be your general health, any medications you're on, when you take your temperature as times of the day can affect the readings; the route of measurement you use, and even the type thermometer used. Some say the older style mercury glass thermometer is still the most accurate ones to use. I guess that's up for debate and discussion.

I was a volunteer participant in a body temperature clinical study some years back. I needed the extra money. In short, I wasn't in the facility more than fifteen minutes after filling out admission paperwork, when I was brought to a treatment room by the nursing staff and started the process of getting my temperature taken in every way a person could, had it done repeatedly day and night, had every different kind of thermometer imaginable to become acquainted or re-acquainted with used, and the long and short of it was I got a bunch of temperatures taken, was paid for my stay- but the docs never really said too much other than thanking me for my participation. They did tell me prior that in the study, many factors would be looked at when readings were taken, so nothing was a solid answer on any readings taken.

So, I hope you start to feel "better" and things improve to your liking. As for just ranting, that's what these boards are an outlet for too. Good luck. And hope you don't have to visit A&E.
