I am always constipated. I go maybe every 3 to 4 days and its not much at all and hard to go. I have been to a GI doc and there is nothing wrong. I have tried everything from over the counter stuff, fruits, wheat stuff. I need help. Any suggestions?
I feel your pain... try acidophilus pills it helps a lot!!!
I have the same problem.
Also the Kashi Ceral is great but make sure your drinking plenty of water.
That is my pit fall I don't drink near enough. Some day's my only beverage is my coffee in the morning!
OMG, I am so with you jill30. I had to call my GP yesterday because I have not had a bm in 9 days. I usually have one every day or at least every other day. I have bought every thing out there too. He called me in a prescription for prescription strength colace. And I had a little teeny tiny bm this morning at 2am. I'm waiting for another because I surely hope that that was not what the medicine did, it should do waaaaay more than that.
The acidipp(can't spell that word)pills I've heard may work too. I tried them but they didn't work for me. But every body is different. I have MS and consipation is one of the lovely symptoms that I get to deal with. Thankfully it's one that doesn't happen often.
Good Luck to you and I hope everything comes out ok (hahaha, get it!!!)
Visit your local health food store and pick up a box of "Get Regular" tea. Works great without cramping or other side effects of some herbal remedies. I drink close to a gallon of water daily, take about 4 tablespoons of ground flax seeds and am about 80% raw foodist and I still have occassional problems, the tea is my remedy.
Taking flaxseed oil pills with acidophilus has helped me.
Also, are you getting enough fiber in your diet? My husband has anal fissures and really the only thing you can do for them is try eating a high fiber diet to keep regular. It is amazing, but a lot of foods you think have a lot of fiber, do not have all that much--case in point--1 apple has about 2.6 g of fiber but 1 cup raspberries has about 6 g. Official guidelines advise you to have about 25 g/day but if you're having problems, you can increase to 30 g/day. But do it slowly--don't go from 5 g/day to 30 g/day immediately or you will have problems. Some high fiber foods: Quaker Oatmeal breakfast cookies (5 g/serving), Slimfast shakes or bars (5 g/each), Kidney beans (cooked) ½ cup 5.8 g, Brown rice (cooked) ½ cup 2.4g, Lima beans (cooked) ½ cup 4.9g , Corn ½ cup 3.9g, Blackberries 1 cup, fresh 7.2 g. Bran, oatmeal, black beans, refried beans, dried figs, dried apricots, prunes, some trail mixes are all good sources. Also, you use Metamucil or Citracel.
