vomited blood

i am not a big drinker. only drink every few months or so. well, last night was one of them, and i guess was to excess.

so i woke up in the middle of the night vomiting, and the first was normal. the 2nd one though, a half of handful or so of pure blood came out, as was the third one. i continued to vomit normally with no blood even in the vomit for the rest of the night, and feel perfectly fine now.

this was a little scary. i think it was likely a blood vessel. what is you guys opinion and do you think it is anything i need to worry about?

thanks.

Re: vomited blood

Was you doing alot of wretching before you was sick? Sometimes when a person wretches alot they can cause irritation to the lining of the oesphagus and it can bleed alot due to the blood vessels in there.

But as a general rule anybody vomiting blood should get it checked out even though it has stopped and they may feel fine.

What did you have to drink?

Re: vomited blood

sharon is very right, any vomiting of blood needs to be evaluated soon,as it 'could' still be going on.you just need to find out what it is that caused the bleeds in the first place.there are some things that would be considered pretty minor, and probably just a one time deal, but there are other medical issues that could actually be life threatening.this is why this does need evaluating, today if possible.just call your primarys office and tell them what happened,i am sure they would try and fit you in today.this really DOES need evaluating, just so you know what this is coming from.i would definitly NOT do any more drinking til you know whats up.hope this is just a minor issue.please let us know what you find out,K?
