Cold all the time - General Health Message Board

I am 29 years old and I am cold all the time, I can have the heat on 80 and have an electric blanket and still be cold, I can take VERY hot baths that my husband can not even touch and come out beat red and still feel cold, I have been this way since I had my last child 7 years ago, but I am uncomfortable everywhere I go because I am freezing, I am even cold in the summer, this is a problem because my husband and children are sweating!What could be wrong?

Get your thyroid checked. I had the same problem after I had my son. They corrected it with synthroid with help with my hypothyroid. A simple blood test can diagnosis this problem and it is common. Even if you are on the low end of the "normal" range (like I was) still insist on the medicine. I eventually came off of it and have been fine ever since. Good luck.

I agree to get your thyroid checked. Ask to have the Free T3, Free T4 (besides the T3, T4) and thyroid antibody tests done in addition to the normal panel. They are not usually done but are necessary for a comprehensive view.

If you want help interpreting the results, the people on the thyroid board site here are great.

Are you hydrating, a little salt mixed with some bottled water, and eat a banana, and magnesium (pumpkin seeds raw). Manganese may help also (pineapple).

Thank you much, I have had a thyroid test done and they said everything was in Normal range, but when I saw another doctor while mine was on leave I went on thyroid meds everything inproved, my loss of hair, acne, and I lost weight well I went back to my regular doctor and she took me off the thyroid meds, and wouldn't give me anything, she said the other doctor was wrong and she won't give me any, and I went to another doctor and they said everything was in range, but I never linked being cold to my thyroid so thank you much.
