| Re: Electric blankets?
luvmy2kids,
Using the electric blanket to PRE-heat the bed is wonderful. The problem with sleeping under one is that your body has no way of regulating the heat. You normally get warmer after you've been under the covers for a while (even without an electric blanket), and then you can move to a cooler section of the bed to cool down. But with an electric blanket, you just keep getting warmer and warmer, until you finally wake up gasping for breath, sweating, and panting for a glass of water.
It is recommennded NOT to use electric blankets with children or old people, because their ability to regulate their heat is not so developed as with adults, and they may not wake up or be able to move to turn off the blanket electricity. The constant heat basically is creating a fever in them. Not good.
