Woke up with unexplained Cramp on back of leg

I just woke up, and ouch... it felt just like a cramp when doing exercise.. exept the feeling stayed there like 30 seconds. i kept calm, but it was painful.

Didn't do any vigorous exercise the previous day.. I've never had this happen to me. Is it common with people my age? I'm 27 male. Or do you think i may have moved and twisted during sleep and that's what cause it

This is what's known as a "charley horse." As common as breathing.

If you find that you get these a lot, sometimes adding potassium and magnesium to your diet can help- eat a banana or a spinach salad.

Well, I get them, and the tightness can last for hours. I'd still say charley horse, but if you are very concerned, go to the doctor. Yes, bananas do have potassium, which is apparently not your problem if you eat them all the time .

That's all I have for you.

I get charley horses all the time. Especially lately in my foot. I've been having one now for 2 days. I went to the gym today and did the treadmill it worked it out a bit but it's still slightly crampy and now I have one in my calf. Stretching will sometime cure a charley horse.

Yes, you can still get charley horses even if you eat bananas. ANd you can wake up with them. Your muscles can decide to cramp for whatever reason. Maybe you stepped wrong the day before, llifted something awkward.....it doesn't take much to cause it to happen. If you stretched funny it could spasm on you.

Sometimes warm heat will help it to relax....
