Skin color and odor - General Health Message Board

Okay, this may sound a little preposterous or a stupid question but is it true??.... The darker your skin color the more you will smell? I mean I know melanin has something to do with your smell, as well as sweat glands and so on, but it would, in a way, make sense, I mean Africans, Asians, Hispanics, etc. all have a different and stronger odor than white people (well caucasians to be more appropriate) in general it seems.

Note: I'm not insinuating anything and this is not meant to be racial.

I don't think body odor has anything to do with the color of your skin. I think it is mainly due to what is eaten, which then can be smelled through the pores and breath.

Can anyone else relate because, although I know your breath might smell of what you ate, but I'm a little skeptical about the smell of the food/drink coming through your skin? I don't know that might be true but that's weird...

Where do you think sweat comes out of the body?

btw: I have smelled pleanty of foul odor from Caucasians as well

Odors absolutely come through the skin, especially when it's warm. People who eat a lot of garlic "sweat" it out through their pores. Trust me, it's true.

Skin color and odor really have nothing to do with one another.
