Chicken is a major component of my diet. But lately my friend told me to eat less chicken because of the growth hormone they use to feed the chickens in the ranch. And he said that the growth hormone can cause cancer in the long run. Is it true or not? I am very worried now because 95% of my meat intake in the last 20 years is chicken.
There have been concerns about growth hormones causing premature sexual development among children and there has been some talk about breast cancer and growth hormones, but no conclusive studies to prove either of these.
If you're worried, then start buying organic/free range chicken. You might also consider adding more fish to your diet - high quality protein and other benefits that are good for you too.
