cracked heels?

Not sure where to post this..but when sandal weather rolls around (like now!) I get the WORSt cracked heels! They get so cracked and painful, the cracks also peel and even bleed at times! Any remedies or ways to cut down on this (besides not wearing sandals!)

Thanks~
Rachel

Re: cracked heels?

I have the same problem. I have got it under control though with two things. First of all get yourself a good "cracked heel" cream. There are several and they probably all work well. I use Dr. Schols or Miracle Heel Repair. I like both a lot. Also use a pumice stone during every shower. You will notice improvement almost immediately. You gotta keep up on it though.

Also you can use vaseline at night. Use an old pair of sock you don't care about and slather on the vaseline and then put the socks on and wear them to bed. This works pretty good but I don't like socks on at night so I rarely do this one.

Re: cracked heels?

When I moved to the desert I developed the worst case of cracked heels you will ever see They were bleeding and I could hardly walk ( I've learned, don't walk barefoot on pavement in the Summer ) I ended up buying some of that Miracle Foot Repair, put in on at night then slept with my socks on. I also stopped wearing sandals without some sort of ped-sock on my feet ( not stylish, but it saves your feet). I wear the type of sock that wicks away the sweat. As they healed up, I soaked them in warm water, and scrubbed off the dead skin.
Good Luck

Re: cracked heels?

I get the same problem. I actually get a prescription cream from my foot dr. for it. Getting a pedicure also helps. I have one every month for two reasons. First I've had back surgery and can't bend to do my toes, and it keeps my heels in good shape!

Re: cracked heels?

Hey!

Thanks for the advice!! I'll have to try the pumice stone and the miracle heel. Oh, do they get painful!

Thanks,
Rachel

Re: cracked heels?

a freind of mine suffers cracked heals ( foot fissures), and he uses superglue to stick the cracks up.

Sounds crazy but it works. Also superglue was actually originally designed to glue skin together. Thought you may like to know...
