Re: MoNo

Your doctor is probably going to want to see you again in a few weeks at which point hell clear you. Typically you resume normal activites 3-4 weeks after diagnosis regardless of how long you had it before diagnosis. Don't go back before your doctor tells you because this could be dangerous. Your spleen is enlarged and more suseptible to bursting when you have mono. Light swimming and running a couple times a week is ok but heavy lifting and contact sports is a no.

Re: MoNo

When my sons had mono the dr. said no contact sports for 6 months. You don't want to take the chance of your spleen rupturing. Last time I checked basketball was a contact sport.

Your doctor will palpitate your abdomin to see how your spleen feels, but don't be disapointed if he doesn't let you resume sports right away. It's for your own good. I would rather wait than risk surgery.

And even though you are starting to feel better, it will be many more weeks before you are back to your old self.
