Frequent nausea Hi everyone, I'm hoping somebody may help me out with this, if not I appreciate anyone taking the time to read. For ten years now I've been having a problem with frequent nausea. I would say on average I wake up in the middle of the night 4-5 days a week feeling like I'm going to throw up. As well often during the day I feel nauseous like I'm going to throw up. When I was younger I used to dry heave until I'd start to feel better. In the last six months or so I've come to be best friends with Gravol, especially at night so I can go back to sleep. I really don't think that this is normal, and after ten years I'm finally deciding to ask about it. Also, I have a fear of throwing up so it makes this even harder. I've spoken with my doctor, explaining that I'm feeling sick all the time (as well I get a cold about once a month) and he always tells me I'm fine. So basically I have given up going to doctors (I've been to about 4 different ones) because they don't seem to want to help me by running blood tests or anything. Has anyone ever experienced, or know someone who has experienced this? I feel like I'm the only one. Any imput is appreciated, thanks. |
Re: Frequent nausea It's difficult to tell just what your problem might be. It could be a food intolerance/sensitivity, a stomach problem, or something else entirely. If regular drs won't work for you, then I suggest trying to find either a Nurse Practitioner or an MD that practices conventional as well as alternative medicine in your area. They tend to be more open minded as well as actually "listening" to your symptoms. Good luck and please keep us posted. :) |
Re: Frequent nausea Naseau is also a sign of acid reflux. That is what I had and got diagnosed with recently. Do you have any other symptons related to reflux? Too bad about the Dr's as they are the ones to know for sure with tests and symptons etc.. Good luck |
Re: Frequent nausea You haven't posted whether you have been to see a GI Specialist, a Gastroenterologist. They are really a lot more qualified to diagnose these types of problems than a regular doctor. If you haven't already done so, you might want to give it a try. As for the always being nauseated thing, I can relate. I have that, too, it seems every day. And I'm sure I have reflux. I have to go see my doctor, but I've been dealing with some other stuff and haven't had time yet. But it's on my list. |
Re: Frequent nausea If you happen to be on the pill that can cause some women to be nauseous all the time. It happened to me. I get real sick when I'm pregnant and when I was taking the pill it tricked my body into thinking I was preg., thereby causing the nausea. |
Re: Frequent nausea Thanks for all your replies. I have been reading more into Acid Reflux and what it is, and I'm really believing that is what it is. I am on the pill, but the frequency has stayed the same as before I was on it. Also, when I was younger I had a severe case of gastroenteritis, so now I'm also thinking about seeing a GI specialist just to be sure. |
Re: Frequent nausea Just wanted to update my situation. After a stay in the hospital and many, many tests and doctors they've discovered I have a hiatal hernia. Right now I'm on medication and it's changed my life, I don't feel nauseous anymore I actually feel normal. I don't want to be on pills for the rest of my life so we're looking at surgery to repair the hernia, but it's a relief to finally know what has been wrong all these years. |
Re: Frequent nausea Glad they found it!! :) |
