| Whooping cough...
Whooping cough is back and making it's rounds.
Seems that vaccination or having had whooping cough did not provide a lasting immunity. Many young adults and older adults are coming down with whooping cough. As a child I did have whooping cough but I got it again.
I am 72 and just got over whooping cough and pneumonia, no fun. Where I was exposed is a mystery to me, most likely walked thru a cloud of germs after someone coughed at church or stores. It is my understanding a person does not come down with symptoms for about 5-15 days after exposure. I felt great up until the morning after what I thought was allergy hit.
As a word of warning, if a person says they have allergies and is coughing up a storm, think twice. I too thought the bad weather storm brought in allergy stuff and that was my problem. It hit me like a ton of brick all of a sudden and took me downhill. I am still trying to regain my stamina.
My internist told me when a person gets a tetanus booster they will also get a booster for whooping cough and diptheria in same shot. Not sure when that starts. You would be wise to ask about this. The internist says they are seeing more and more whooping cough.
