lying down after eating

hello everyone!

i just have a question which was bothering me recently. For the past few weeks, I have been feeling very lazy and I feel so sleepy immediately after eating, that I HAVE to lie down and nearly fall asleep.

I am concerned if this bad habit is a cause for obesity? I dont eat fattening foods at all, and this habit has discouraged me and I have begun to think that this lying down after eating would make me fat or obese.

Can you explain if I am right? Please provide technical reasons if you can.

Thanks a lot.

Jacob

Re: lying down after eating

My mother always tells me not sleep right away after a meal because it is not good for health and you can get suffocated. I don't know if it can lead to gain weight but I can say that it can become a bad habit. After a meal, you must have a little walk after which you can go to sleep. Sorry but I don't have technical reasons maybe this can help you.

Re: lying down after eating

If you go to sleep right after eating it is possible that you could gain weight because you are not doing any type of exercise or movement so that you can burn off the calories that you just ate, therefore you gain all the calories at least from that meal.
Hope this helps!

food coma!

i'm not sure how much lying down after eating a meal contributes to weight gain but regardless i would just try your best to now just sit around after meals. especially meals later in the day.

From a medical standpoint, if this is new and worsening, see your doctor. You could be having issues with your blood sugar. I would get it checked out if it persists.
