Okay ive have suffered with this long enough..for years and im only 19. Ive experienced terrible itching for a long time now in my left ear mostly but sometimes in both. And its inside, it feels deep. But for some reason though ive never been to a doc about it. I just never think of it at the time. Go figure my ears dont itch when im at the doctor. But anyways, i clean my ears daily so i never really figured it could be wax but someone mentioned that to me tonite and told me to relax my head in hot water for a bit. Could this be true even though i always clean my ears? It literally wakes me from my sleep and wont quit. Ive also thought that maybe something is stuck down there...possibly cotton from a qtip but who knows! or maybe its spiders like that poor little boy had oh my i would die! lol but does anyone know anything i could try? AT ALL?
Thank you.
You really should see an ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor to look inside your ears. It could be dry skin or some kind of allergic dermatitis - which can be treated. Overcleaning the ears will make it worse. When you've had a symptom for years it's a good idea to have the doctor look inside the ear to determine the cause of the problem and resolve it. It could be a very easy answer so make an appointment.
My sister has this itching inside her left ear. She thought it is from allergy because at the same time the corner of her eyes got itchy too.
It comes and goes, not all the time though.
Another person that I know has psoriasis which sometimes made her inner ear itchy too. So you might get either one of those.
Don't poke your ear too deep with q-tips, try cleaning them with Debrox or similar ear wax remover from your local drug store.
If you have a good insurance, going to an ENT like Andrea84 suggested is a good idea.
hi andrea i suffer with ichy ears doctor gave steriod cram it helps however when you stop using it the icthyness comes back!!im going back to see what else they can offer i will let you know foxy188
I use an ear wax remover liquid last night. it seemed to really helped. is the liquid suppose to come back out of the ear when you tilt your head back to to normal..i mean where does that wax go?
and no i don't have any insurance....thats why going to the docs is so hard for me.
Hey, I've always heard that you aren't supposed to use q-tips. A friend of mine did for a long time and got an infection in her ear. It got so itchy that she'd take the cotton off of the q-tip and use it to scratch inside her ear! She was actually doing some bad damage in there! Finally she went to the doc and got things taken care of and stopped using q-tips.
Mine itch way inside when my allergies are acting up......it's annoying. But I've purchased a Neti Pot and use that and(knock on wood) I haven't had any issues w/allergies for a while.
My ears get intensly itchy at times. My doctor finally diagnosed me as having excema in the ear canals. Really, there is nothing that can be done for it other than suffering through it. They really don't want foreign objects in the ear as it may damage the ear. She did tell me I could put some cream around the opening to the ear and hope it works its way down, but that really doesn't help at all.
ive had itching in my ears my whole life. not like constantly, but every once in a while. does anyone else have to make a weird scratching sound in their throat to help "scratch" inside your ear? the itching for me always feels like it is near the place where the ear and throat connect.
I have a similar problem, that has been driving me insane. In the left ear only, a sensation that resembles 2 flies walking around the ear canal, near the opening. It's more of a tickle torture, than an itch. I have been to 2 ENT specialists, and both are stumped. My only relief is to make it hurt by rolling up a ball of aluminum foil, well wrinkled foil, and push it in the ear. So, I go about my business looking like a nut case!!!
Of course the 2 ent's just gave up, with no further suggestions.

Hi,
I have exactly the same symptons, you're not alone! I'm only 20 and have had ongoing problems since I was a child. It has become particluarly bad in the last year though. I have the severe itching inside my inner ear that I (and any ear drops) cannot reach. It makes the roof of my mouth itch too, almost constantly. I am not sleeping well and the irritation inside my ear is driving me crazy. However much I itch it doesn't stop, just makes my outer ear sore from itching!
I've been to see two nurses and three doctors. I have had drops for inner ear exzema, drops to clear wax out, drops for infections, and a one month course of anti-histamine oral tablets. Nothing is working and the last two days the irritation has become worse than ever.
The NHS in England is always reluctant to refer patients onto specialists (I am certain I need to see one) as it looks bad for their figures. I may have to pay to go private, I don't know what else to do. I don't know how it works in the States, but you have to be referred by a GP before you are allowed to see a specialist here.
