Post Girlfriend has these bumps & rashes

I have 2 questions;

1) My girlfriend gets these rather large bumps on her thighs and when they are touched she says they sting. She says they are heat rashes (?) from her thighs rubbing together, last time I checked rashes were red blotches not large bumps that string.

2) She also just suddenly began to get HIVES from eating something she is allergic to we suspect or a cream she was using. Well I was wondering if contact with the infected area can be spread? Say example; she has hives on her on her leg, i touch with my hand, i catch?

My girlfriend currently lives with me and is pretty much around me 24/7 so I know she isn't cheating or anything an thats these cant be any kind of sexual disease and if it is or if it sounds like any please tell me so I can look it up. I'm just wanting to know exactly what these bumps are and what not. I ask her and she says her DOCTOR told her what they were when she was like 8....well she is 19 now and medical science and knowledge has changed since then.

Re: Girlfriend has these bumps & rashes

There are a couple of things that could be going on here. I really suggest you try to get your girlfriend to the dr and have the rash looked at.

Heat rash can appear as individual red bumps and can be sore, but are usually not painful. It's also usually not linear. This could be an allergic reaction to something or it could be something more serious that requires medication.

As for the hives, she should probably see an allergist to find out exactly what's causing her outbreaks. While unsightly and uncomfortable, hives aren't contagious. Hives can even be caused by stress, in some cases.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Re: Girlfriend has these bumps & rashes

It sounds like your girlfriend has eczema or atopic eczema. It is also called dermatitus. And yes, it can be painful. But there are creams that she can get that can help get this under control. It is not heat rash, but the heat does aggrevate it and make it worse and more uncomfortable. It is not contagious and it is not a STD.

The hives are caused by eating something that she is allergic to. This can be a simple reaction or in severe cases it can send you to the ER in shock...it's not something to mess around with. You can't catch hives from her either...

Re: Girlfriend has these bumps & rashes

[COLOR="Navy"]Here's a question. Is this rash bothering her, or just you? If it's bothering her, then she should go have it seen to. If it's bothering you..then it's still up to her if she is going to go to the doctor or not....

It's not going to make her extremely ill...it's something that she can mention when she does go in to see her doctor at some future time. Now if it's really irritating her or weeping or has open sores, then yes, she should get something for it...
