Pencil lead under skin?

I have been having health problems for 8 or 9 years now. I won't bore you with all the details, but here is a link to the thread if you want to look

Anyway, last night I was sat thinking about what could be wrong with me and I suddenly remembered when I was about 10 or 11 some boy in my class stabbed me in the leg with a pencil and the end broke off. I could see this bit of lead travelling down my leg and I tried to stop it by putting pressure next to it with a ruler, but in the end I lost it.

Is this something to worry about?

Re: Pencil lead under skin?

I doubt it. And pencil "lead" isn't lead at all, it's graphite.

If you are really concerned, bring this up to your doctor.

And it's nothing to worry about. My mother is 87 and still has a piece in her arm from when she was in elementary school that broke that was when she was say, 8 years old....about 80 years ago and she is doing just fine thank you very much..... I don't think your health problems are from that....

Re: Pencil lead under skin?

I work in a high school health office. Kids poke themselves all the time or the "lead" as it is called gets imbedded. However, lead is not used in pencils. We clean their with peroxide and send them on their way.
