Cold sores

I usually suffer from cold sores if i go to a hot country and expose my face to long in the sun without adequate screen on.

But i have just got another cold sore, the 2nd in about 6 weeks !! and we have not had too much sun in the UK this year. I did sit in sun at weekend without sunblock on my face as i was away and didnt take any with me (in UK). Does anyone think that has caused it again? or am i below par? do cold sires hit when you are not at peak health? although physically i feel ok. Mentally not quite so good, im suffering anxiety attacks. So maybe the stress is causing them. Any suggestions please?

Re: Cold sores

Hi

I used to be prone to cold sores every other week.

There is going to be something which is triggering these cold sores and you need to try and find out what it is.

I realised that I would get a cold sore after I used a cup in work to have a drink. I stopped using there cups and started taking my own cup in. Since then I haven't had one cold sore and it's been about 7 months.

Do you use lip gloss or lip stick? If so these need to be thrown away and new ones bought everytime you have an attack. This is because the herpes virus lives on the sticks.

Also at home use your own cup and every now and again cover it in boiled water and leave it to soak (the cup not the cold sore).

Also try using a anti fungal cream on the cold sore to help dry it up. I did this the last time I had one, and alongside using my own cup I have had no more.

Good luck. They are horrible, and never seem to go away at the time of flare ups!

Sharon

Re: Cold sores

a cold sore is a virus and should have nothign to do with the sun.

maybe you keep comming in contact with the virus, weather it was from you before or someone elts, always during hot days.. but that don't make too much sence to me...

yes they do come out when you are stressed, because the virus will always be in you, and when you are stressed, you immune system lowers so it will not attack the virus but let it get the high end of control.

maybe eveytime it is hot, you immunesystem goes down. that happens with alot of people with different things wrong with them. do you have any other medical problems? or are you really healthy? and this cold sore thing is the only thng

and eveyrtime you are stressed you immunesystem goes down.

bost your immune system, with maybe herbs, or a good diet. and exercise ALWAYS HELPS the immune system. or if you have any other problems, joint pain, bad job.. take care of them first.. then worry about these cold sores, if you can get you immunesystem undercontrol,. you will have less out breaks.

IMO I don't think advoiding the virus is going to help as in washing everything more. I mean it will help a little. but I think the best defence is your total health. at least that is what has worked best for me. and I have both type one and type 2 of this virus.

the virus is in you, if your t-cells attack fast you will not have an OB. but they have to always keep it locked up in your body... if it escapes, and you have more of the virus in you then you do a defence system... well you know...

Re: Cold sores

I used to suffer with these ugly sores constantly. Doctor also says stress can be the main factor.

You say you get them often , so you should be able to tell by now the itch ion your lips. As soon as you feel this. Rub a smear of toothpaste over your lip. It will save you a fortune on buying stuff from the pharmacie. Did this twice and my cold sores haven't not popped up. EVER !!!

Good luck.

Re: Cold sores

I suffer from frequent severe cold sores that often require a atitbiotic as the get infected. Sun is a big cause with me. If I do not use a very high sun block for lips and repeat often I will get them. Also being run down stress brings them on
