Too much protein bad for bones?

I've read that eating too much protein is bad for your bones. Bad in what way? Like if you were still growing and you took too much protein, would your bones grow less than if you had not taken so much protein? And can it make your bones smaller?

Re: Too much protein bad for bones?

I have read that a high protein diet causes urinary calcium loss but getting the recommended intakes of calcium each day easily offsets this. I don't know if this is true?
