I've been having some problems lately, and I wonder if I have hyperthyroidism, or any kind of thyroid problem, really. And I was hoping someone could help me here. ^^;;
Well.. ever since I had a surgery back in May, I have been losing weight, and have noticed a loss of appetite. Almost completely. I went from 120lbs to 110 within a week or so. I really didn't think about it at the time. Other than that, I've had really bad back and neck problems.. I'm really cold even if it's 80+ degrees outside. I have headaches almost daily, and more than once a day. I tend to eat 1-2 meals a day, well, I make myself. And afterwards I almost *always* feel sick to my stomach..
Lately I noticed I'm having problems with my eyes, too. Not really vision-wise, but.. they just really hurt. Although today, for the first time, I noticed my vision was blurry, but only for a split second.
I also feel very weak and tired, even if I get more than 8 hours of sleep, and I'm never quite sure why. I noticed a "pinching" feeling also in my right breast, not sure what that's about either.
Anyway, sorry if this post was long.. it's been bothering me lately and I'm not sure what's wrong. I also haven't made an appointment because I dunno if it's covered with my insurance.
And I really didn't know where to post this, either. *shrugs* Hope its in the right place. ^^;;
Sounds to me like it could be your thyroid. I experienced similar symptoms (fatigue, nausea) before I was prescribed meds for an underactive thyroid. Your physician can do a simple blood test to check your levels.
It could also be fibromyalgia triggered by your surgery. I would suggest that you see a rheumatologist. Also, what type of surgery did you have? That info may help us think of other causes. Good Luck!
Thyroid trouble is a real possibility... overactive, probably. Ask your doctor for TSH and free T4 tests, with TSI antibody test if you really want a definitive answer.
I can't imagine it wouldn't be covered by almost any insurer. All it takes is an office visit and simple bloodwork.
If you find out that's it, come over to the Thyroid Board and let us know.
just where exactly was your surgery done(what spinal level) and what was the main issue for the surgery?did you have any cord contact pre op?what did they do?Marcia
