Constipation when I travel

I am going on a two week vacation soon, and I'm already worrying I will be constipated during the trip. My whole system freaks out when I travel. Even if I eat nothing but fruits and vegetables this still happens. I don't want this to ruin my vacation. Does this ever happen to anyone else, this is terrible? What can I do to prevent this??

Re: Constipation when I travel

yes, this happens to me too! I completely shut down when traveling. I can eat normal, but I've gone several days without going just because I was traveling. My friend has the same problem (although she has a complete phobia about using public restrooms, so her's I believe is mental!) The only thing may be to bring a mild laxative with you and take every few days to make you go..

Try using Miralax. It is an OTC that you can get at COSTCO or WalMart or Target. It has just come on the market without prescription. It willl take about 3 days to work, but it really is effective. You mix it with water or juice. It has no mouth feel or taste. I take alot of heavy duty drugs that constipate me and this takes care of that.

One thing that many people have found to be helpful is the oil from wild oregano. It also tunes up the immune system, which will keep you going strong while those around you are catching the latest “bug.” Take it along when you travel!
The beauty of oregano oil is that it accomplishes tasks incredibly quickly and effectively with no side effects.

Common complaints such as bladder infections, food poisoning respond quickly to treatment with oregano oil. Oregano oil works very well for tooth and gum disease by clearing up infection. Daily use will keep teeth and gums plaque free and healthy. Take a few drops under the tongue, wait a minute and swish it around.

I agree. Get some Miralax. It does not cramp, and works great! It doesn't make you run to the bathroom, can be mixed in any beverage, and has no taste! Good Luck and have fun!

Hi, just be thankful you don't get traveler's diarrhea... because i'll tell you it is WORSE than constipation, you have to be tied to a toilet the whole trip.

Just be sure to bring a mild lax with you and don't try to think about it, because the more thought you give to it, the more stressfull you will get and the harder it is.

Re: Constipation when I travel

I too recommend Miralax, mix it in any beverage & you can't tell it's there. People on vacation tend to ignore their urge to go because it's not the right time or right place. Try to drink lots of water & eat fruits & vegies as much as possible. Have a GREAT vacation!
