Blurred Vision When Exercising/Running/Physical Exertion????

My husband stopped smoking a little over one year ago. Shortly thereafter, when running, lifting weights or engaging in any type of physical exertion, his vision started to blur. It ususally takes 20 to 25 minutes following cessation of exercise/exertion for his vision to return. He also occasionally experiences headaches after his vision starts to blur.

He recently underwent an MRA of the blood vessels in his neck, which was negative; an EKG, which was negative; a stress test, which was fine (other than revealing that his vision starts to blurr when his heart reaches 140 beats per minute and is completely blurry at 157 beats per minute); and, blood work, for which we are currently awaiting the results.

If his blood work is negative regarding sugar or cholesterol, does anyone else have any suggestions other than seeing a neurologist or has anyone experienced anything like this and if so, what was your diagnosis?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.
