Strange knot after car accident - General Health Message Board

Three weeks ago, my 16 year-old son and I were in a pretty horrific car accident. My Ford Expedition lost control going down a very steep road, and we rolled several times for a total of 275 ft. By the grace of God, we both only had internal bruising and I had 3 broken ribs.

I obviously still have quite a bit of pain on my upper right side where the top three ribs were broken, but I have also noticed a round knot, about the size of a marble in the same location. It hurts to move it around, but it does move a little bit just around that area.

My question is this: Could this be a blood clot, and, if so, will it disipate on its own?

When we were taken to the hospital after the accident, they did CT scans of our head, neck, and abdomen, so I'm assuming if this was anything real serious, it would've showed up on the CT scan.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

wow,i am assuming you were both wearing seatbelts when this occured?you should probably,just to be on the safe side,have this little marble sized glob evaluated by your doc.while it "could" possibly be a blood clot,it could be many other things too.i would just try and leave it alone but get yourself looked at soon and have this felt by your doc.it would probably be a good idea anyway to just follow up with your doc just to see how things are healing(you should just make sure you are healing okay anyway).you just need to identify what this glob is.he would also probably know what if anything was actually found upon the CTs being done.if he doesn't,i would highly advise you to obtain all and any actual records from that ER,including all CT results and any other testing,just to make ceratin something didn't slip thru the cracks(ERs are very busy places and certain things can be forgetten to be told or even seen and told to a patient).you should just realistically know what was or wasn't found in your CTs,espescially given the circumstances.that was quite an accident you had.impact forces,espescially upon the abdomenal and upper body areas if you were wearing your seatbelts would be pretty strong.you should just have these records anyway since it was a pretty significant event and impact upon your body.they could be helpful if something didn't start feeling right say a few months or weeks from now?you would have those baseline records to go from.they could be very helpful to you in many ways just having them.all you have to do is call the hospital where you were seen and they will tell you how to procede.i do this all the time with all mine and my sons medical records,it is very simple to do.let me know just what you find out about that little glob.i am rather curious to know what that actually is too.good luck, FB
