Question Appetite Loss - Trouble Eating

My friend has this problem:

FIRST - Here is some info about him:

24 year old Male
Long history of stomach issues, leading to medical testing that has found nothing wrong.

Symptoms:
1. Nausea and appetite loss
2. Moderate stomach pain

These symptoms occcur on most days, leading to the inability to eat, especially a normal ration of food (usually gets extremely full or nauseous after a few bites)

* He regularly smokes marijuana and finds that it significantly helps stimulate his appetite.

Does anybody have a similar problem, or know what his problem may be?

Re: Appetite Loss - Trouble Eating

Does your friend have food allergies? Has he been tested? What kind of tests have been done? There is a great book out called "The Yeast Intolerance Diet". He might get some help out of that....

Has he tried eliminating foods from his diet? If so, what, and has it worked? You've been very vague so it's hard to offer help with such limited info...

Has he tried something like Prilosec?

Re: Appetite Loss - Trouble Eating

He has had stomach tests - upper GI, lower GI, food movement, ect...no tests for food allergies though.

He has not eleminated any foods from his diet.

Wouldn't a food allergy cause more of a physical reaction (hives, redness, itching, ect..)?

He does take Prilosec - every morning for his heartburn trouble. It has helped his acid reflux, but not the other issues.

Thanks though!

Re: Appetite Loss - Trouble Eating

Not necessarily. YOu can get sick from foods that you are allergic to. Some foods do make people sick to their somach. I'm surprised he hasn't had food testing done to see if he doesn't have an intolerance to food. If you can't handle certain foods-or your body can't digest them, then they can cause you to feel nauseaous or have stomach pains etc.

He may have an allergy to wheat or gluten or eggs.....there are alot of things that could be causing problems...this may be sopmething to check on on line. Allergies don't just cause hives or itches.
