Hi
I am a non smoker that suffers from anxiety.
My gf smokes & i'm trying to get her to quit. She gets up at 7am for a cigarette & again an hour later & after meals.
When we're out socialising, she often nipps out for a ciggy & arrives back stinking!
I have noticed a lot lately that when she has smoked, & we kiss passionately, i can't stand the taste & i get anxious & can feel my heart rate soaring & feel nauseous & on edge, similarly like i would feel if i'd had a toke on her ciggy!
Can her smoking pass on a nicotine hit to me via kissing??
I know she only smokes outside & the passive smoking isn't as much of an issue, but just being in her company & kissing is realy getting to me!!
Any help appreciated
maybe it is, but i know what it feels like when a non smoker smokes, the cold sweat & nauseous & thats how i feel. I used to get the same in bars!
If there's smoke on her lips, tar, nicotine etc, then i'm sure it could be passed on when kissin, especially heavy kissing.
Can her smoking pass on a nicotine hit to me via kissing??
Probably some of nicotine is left in her saliva (but it is very small), and you either allergic to it or just never smoked and since nicotine is toxic its normal reaction for you to feel disgust.
Buy her a chicle that can regulate smell as often as you can, maybe she will understand your cue.
I'm a smoker and even I don't like kissing after having a cigarette. I agree it's pretty gross. I highly doubt it's toxic to kiss a smoker, however, like there's not enough of the bad stuff that could affect you when you're kissing.
My only suggestion is maybe just consider whether you want to be dating/kissing a smoker. I hate to say that, but it's just something you should probably think about. A lot of non-smokers are very adamant about only dating other non-smokers, it's very common. And if it really makes you uncomfortable then you probably aren't suited well for each other.
Hehe, she knows i thinks she smells like an ash tray, she knows herself. We have so much in common & i'm a pretty open person i try not to let something like that come between us or haven't in the past!
I guess we all have vices & nobodys perfect, she don't particularly like it when i need my fix of aerobic exercise everyday!
Thanks anyway, i just wondered about wether 'passive' smoking existed in kissing as it does when in the same room. After a ciggy or an hour after, i kinda hold my breath, but i can taste a kinda bitterness & then i get a headrush & a bit anxious.
