Question on donating blood...

If you donate blood, when they are testing it if they discover HIV or some other illiness in your bloodstream and you don't know about it, will they eventually inform you...?

Yes, that's why they require ID.

Not sure how long that would take, though. If you think you have a blood disease, you might be able to get tested for free at a public clinic, or planned parenthood or something.

I would think that if you donated your blood and you did have a disease, such as HIV, then the clinic would inform you ASAP. You would need to start treatment straight away, especially for HIV or hepatitis or any other serious disease.
