Hi,
I recently went to a new Doctor that went over my diet and pass glucose numbers and thyroid test results that I have from being treated by an endrocrinologist for the last 3 years----the glucose levels have been well within the normal range. My new doctor said almost immediately that you have hypoglycemia and hyperinsulinmia. Without any testing ---I just told him my symptoms. He put me on a high protein --low carbohydrate diet. He said, "what I want you to do is eat one morning what you normally eat then go get some blood work about 1 to 2 hours after eating---lets see what is work right and what is working and not working."
The test included CBC, Complete blood Chemistry Panel, Liver funtion test, pancreatic enzyme test(Amylase and Lipase), Blood Insulin level and C peptides. The lab techs were surprised that I was being tested without fasting.
My Glucose was 158 and insulin level was 227--- normal high is 20 and I have since read in Dr.Atkins Diet Book that any reading above 75 is high reguardless of the conditions. All other test results are normal except C-peptides was also high ---don't know what that means. I'll find out when I go back to the Doctor.
I suggest you get your insulin level tested along with glucose level. Your cells could be insulin resistant and not capable of aborbing carbs properly. This condition could lead to Diabetes. Do something before you get there
God Bless----Harry
PS --What is so bad is I told my Endo doc 3 years ago I thought I was Hypoglcemic but she alway said your numbers look fine.
