Question I bruise very EASILY..is it a sign?

I bruise very easily. If I bump into something, I get bruises. When my bf sucks on me; I bruise quickly.
I played volleyball today, and I have little specks of bruises( I think) on my arms. And I also have a big bruise on my hand. I never had that b4. I'm kind of scared, cuz this stranger IM me and said that it could be leukimia. I don't know what leaukimia is like?

Maybe, maybe not. Some people bruise more easily than other because they do not have as much clotting factor in their blood. Or they could be anemic. Some medications can cause blood thinning. In your situation, the thing to do is not panic and see your family doctor to have some tests done.

There are several possibilities here. If your bruising is accompanied by weight gain you might also look into Cushings disease.

At any rate, time to go to the doctor for some simple blood tests to rule out your worst fears.

There is a condition called von Willebrand's disease that causes easy bruising. It's related to hemophilia but is much less serious -- even people who get it diagnosed often do nothing about it (my sister-in-law is one of them).

Here's a link to an article about it from WebMD:

Cool

i bruise easily - used to be i didn't even know i had one unless i saw it. i read that a vitamin c deficiency can cause bruising - not just bleeding gumes (which i did not have). i take 500 mg. of vitamin c daily and now when i bruise i know it. this may not be your problem and you should see your doc. to rule out other causes. but, if nothing else comes up, you may want to try vitamin c.

I can now see how far I've come,
and look forward to the distances i have left to travel. (John Edward)
