Question HELP! My mind won't stop thinking.

I have gone to physicicans and psychs before about this. All they do is prescribe me too many antidepressants which make me worse than better. I have tried so many meds with no success for 3 years now, that I now want to go alternative/natural. Would anyone know what would help my constant thinking brain? It never stops, even when i am asleep, and its debilitating. I am feeling brain tired alot.

Have you seen a pyschologist about this? This is sort of what happens to a person with ADD tendencies instead of true ADD. Their brain won't shut off to allow them to fall asleep and they get distracted easily because of all the thoughts running through their head. My daughter has this and after having her come up with this diagnosis following ADD testing I can full well see that I am the same way. A psychologist is what was recommended to help her work with this problem.

Try some meditation. It's natural, and has been tested for the last 2500 years!

Best wishes

Oh dear, i must sound hopeless to you all...i have tried the meditation and the reflexology, and the yoga faithfully, but i noticed it only calms my body, NOT my brain...I do exercise 3 times a week vigorously, my body feels good with this, however my brain still wont shut down...What do i tell a pschologist? I believe what i am feeling in my brain is excessive anxiety from issues i cannot resolve in my past, such as people hurting me deeply.. I have gone to a psych before, and she was so "book" like, that she didn't see into what was really going on with me...I am trying to find another one ...I have no friends here where i live, and have been here for 7 years. My friends think i'm crazy when i tell them my brain wont shut down...i live in a small town where they dont have support groups for anxiety.

Hi,
I have this problem sometimes too.
At night, I go to bed and read and read and read, this seems to clear my mind of other thoughts than the book.
It is important to not get over tired as this can make it worse.
Television is mind numbing aswell....lol

Good luck

Potato,
I'm so sorry to hear about your annoying brain. I "get it"!!!

I always felt like that as a kid, I could never get to sleep because my brain wouldn't shut off. No one ever knows what I mean.

Now, as an adult...I get some stupid song in my head(only about one or two lines, of course) and it will play over http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif and over http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif and over http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif while I'm trying to go to sleep. Even when I read it'll play in my mind, sometimes I can't even concentrate on my book. SO COMPLETELY ANNOYING.

When my poor daughters are singing or something around suppertime, I'll yell..."don't sing anything PLEASE, it'll get stuck in my head."

Whichever is the "current song" will be stuck for a week or two. It is even there when I wake up in the morning.
This only happens when I lie down.

Zoloft (which I wasn't taking because of that) helped for a few months. But it wore off for that.

Exactly what kind of anti-depressants have you tried??
I wonder if Paxil would be good.
Sorry, but that is the only answer I can think of also.
