what is biting me? - General Health Message Board

everynight when i seem to fall asleep i wake up with bites all over me,each night i get more and more.

they are red and puffy,itch really bad,after a few days the red/puffyness goes away and from stratching i guess,there is just a little scab,red dot thing.

i dont believe they are misquitos..
any ideas.

you might have bed bugs, bed mites. You should wash your bedding hot water...all of it, including the mattress pad. If it mites, you should get a cream from your doctor to take care of it.

Do you have a dog or cat that sleeps with you on the bed? Could it be fleas from the pet?

And it wouldn't be mosquitos this time of the year, nor would they be covering your body. They bite singly.

It does sound like bed bugs. They're making a resurgence in the US lately. If you've stayed in a hotel for any reason recently, it's quite possible to have brought them home with you. Dust mites don't bite, so it isn't likely to be them.

Just washing your bedding won't get rid of them. Do some research on the subject. You can find web photos of the bites to help identify yours. Then if you determine that it is likely a bedbug infestation, you'll have to do some heavy-duty housecleaning to get rid of them and their eggs. You may even want to consult a professional exterminator for help.
