Having children and memory loss - General Health Message Board

I found it in The Journal of Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, which was sitting in my doctor's office. It's on the web and you can look it up yourself. The article was called "Nulliparity and Late Menopause are Associated with Decreased Cognitive Decline." I never saw it publicized in the mainstream press (maybe because no one knows what nulliparity means). What these scientists claim is that women who have never had children are protected against memory loss. They also said the same thing about women who go through menopause late in life. They say it has something to do with estrogen, but I am confused on this point. What do people think of this?

HMMM, could be a bit of truth to this, I always had a great memory, when I got pregnant with my son I had the hardest time remembering things, still true to this day, I have 2 kids and my oldest is now 8 and I still have trouble remembering things. I have heard many many mothers say the same thing, when they got pregnant their memory went, I have not heard any of the non mothers I know complaining about their memory.
