Post Green Feces?

I just got a call from a friend of mine who was curious if green feces was a problem. She said she had been eating black jelly beans for a few days and now everytime she uses the bathroom her feces are GREEN.

Any clue as to why? Would it be because of the black jelly beans? I was thinking it was -- but told her I would ask here on the board.

Thanks!

Amy

Everytime I drank grape soda (juice), my stools would be light green for a day or two. The first time this happened, I called my doctor and he said it could be something I ate or drank. I stopped the grape soda and didn't have green stools again. I wanted to make sure it was the grape soda so I drank some and sure enough, I had green stool for a day or two. So now I know what it is. I'm not sure about jelly beans.

It may be the jellybeans. I know it's happened to me a few times with certain things I ate.

Who CARES what colour your POO POO is. As long as you feel fine, no pain, discomfort, fatigue, wierd feelings, don't worry. If you were to have a REAL problem, you would know it. There are much more serious concerns than the colour of one's LOGS.

My husband told me of a time when he gave his nephew a BEET shake.(Yes my husband has weird eating habits)A few hours later the nephew showed his bright red Pee Pee to his mother. His mom proceded to scream for my husband to come here as she was sure her son was bleeding internally. They all had a big laugh when he told her what he gave his nephew to drink.

I just had the same experience and began to panic. I read this post about the black jelly beans and realized that I had just eaten black licorice. So, black licorice = green feces! Who knew?

Bile is the color green, initially making the color of your stool green. Stool changes brown in the large intestine, if it passes too quickly through the large intestine it will come out green. Not a big deal. It is recommended to see a doctor if it persists.

I had a passion for beetroot at one stage. I ate alot of it. The first time I used the bathroom after eating it, my stools were loose and CRIMSON! I really thought that I had injured myself some how. Now I know its just the beetroot.
Funny thing....2 nights ago I had prawn toast at our local chinese rest. It has lots of sesame seeds on it. Well low and behold, today my stools are COVERED in sesame seeds! Ewwwww...YUK!

I believe it's the dye in certain foods that turns it green. In this case it happens to be the dye in the jelly beans causing the change.
Chill out.
