I'm a 22 year old who has enjoyed near perfect health until this year, when I've suddenly begun to have persistent anxiety symptoms. This is partially due to personal issues which have left me depressed and emotionally stressed out, but also a fear of being more seriously ill which is making me even more nervous - itself a common recurring symptom of anxiety disorder, so I'm told - and appear to be causing even further symptoms.

Today, however, my chin and lower gum suddenly feels heavy, like a combination of stiffness, numbness and pressure internally. It's not an intense feeling but it's noticeable and somewhat uncomfortable. I've also had, very irregularly over the last few weeks, momentary tingling sensations which I think are called paraesthesiae, where my chin tenses up for a moment and a harsh tingle runs through it, then goes back to normal. My jaw feels OK, there is no other numbness or any tingling in any part of my head, and all movement is normal as far as I can tell.

I've heard that this can be an indicator of a potentially more serious illness and am really worried about it, which is no doubt making things worse but I can't help it. I've been to the doctors several times over the last two months, and consequently had two ECGs and blood and urine tests which all came back normal. The doctor who first examined me two months ago, when I had a strange attack of weakness in my arms and legs, said she couldn't see any likelihood of a neurological problem. My main problem has been ongoing acid reflux for which I was started on Lansoprazole last week. Some of my other symptoms include consistent drowsiness and heavy head with occasional headache and feeling of pressure on it, tight-feeling neck (although no problems with breathing and swallowing), occasional mild tingling in my hands and fingers and mild twitching in various parts of me.

I have no family history of any kind of serious medical condition, and have been mostly reassured by those I've talked to that all these are simply a physical manifestation of stress. However, the feeling in my chin is new and is worrying me greatly. Hopefully somebody can please help somehow, as I'm feeling disoriented and very confused by it all.
