Surgery Tuesday - General Health Message Board

Im having my knee scoped and a lateral release done this tuesday. My pre-ops on monday and last weekend i started down with a cough because my throat has a tickle. Ive been coughing like crazy all week and my throats still bugging me a bit but its not as bad.

Im currently worried they will cancel the surgery on me, i am getting MUCH better, i have had NO fever or anythiung just a slight headache.
I have waited soo long to finally get my knee fixed and i just need to put my mind at rest!
Any thoughts would be great

My husband seems to get that way before his knee surgeries as well. If your lungs sound clear, no fever and your white blood cell count is normal the morning before the surgery, they will go through with it.

I presume you are having a spinal block instead of being put under general anesthesia? The big concerns with being sick involve general anesthesia as it affects the lungs when there is congestion in there.

Well i havent been told what way they are doing it, general or not. ill find out monday, i was just freaking out worrying they wouldnt do it because of it but its not like a full blown cold its just like when you have that tinkle in your throat and feels like you just need to scratch it and youd be fine kind of thing.
I personally dont no if i could handle a spinal one! Id rather be out the whole time and not have to wonder what the HECK they are doing!!

With the spinal one, they offer you sedation I.V. If Jim is not interested in watching what they are doing, he will simply let the I.V. take over and sleep through it.

Make sure they use whatever anesthesia you feel comfortable with.
