smoking/singing - really need info/advice - General Health Message Board

I smoked for just ten months and quit, and my singing voice was severely damaged (my voicebox or something, I doubt it's my lungs cuz I can breathe fine). I lost a third of my range and my falsetto is almost nonexistent, etc. It's been a year and I hoped it would come back just a tad but it didn't. I want to be a professional comedy singer and now it'll be harder. I just want to know if it ever might come back at all, or if I could get an operation to help, etc.

Any info, please help. Thx.

It is possible to do serious, lasting damage to your voice.

Can it be fixed? That depends on what, exactly, is wrong. You might have a nodule on a vocal cord or something that can be removed, the only way to find out is to ask a doctor--probably an ENT (ear, nose, throat) would be best.
