| Re: Just cause my shoulder hurts everyday, Surgery is my only option?
having just gone thru my own shoulder hell with a rotator cuff repair and decompression i can tell you hon,get that MRI just to really "see" what level of real damage is in there before "doing' anything else. this is the only true way you will know for sure what is actually wrong in there. it may not be as bad as you think or trust me,it could be worse. i had shoulder issues since 1989(but still went on with my normal life just dealing off and on with it) that all hit the fan last nov when my supraspinatus tendon completely tore in half one moring just by lifting my purse off the top of my fridge. the damage that was there upon the MRI really shocked me. i knew i had some level of possible tear, but it was alot more extensive and alot of other issues also needed surgical repair too.
this joint is the most complex one in our entire bodies. it just moves in ways the other joints can't.there fore it simply has alot of tendon and muscle attached to it in order for it to move the ways it does. that whole 'rotator cuff' area just takes on alot of stress and daily wear and tear. things get damaged over time. lifting and doing other repetitive motion can just damage things over time. any heavy lifting i did always created some level of pain for me,but i just blew it off or treated it with moist heat and advil or aleeve til i simply could not do that anymore. the thing is,the sooner you know for sure what is wrong the quicker you can get it repaired if it is that bad. whatever is possibly torn in there will just get worse over time, then the repairs are much more in depth, believe me.
just obtaining that one MRI will at least let you know for certain what you are actually dealing with and if anything really even 'needs" repair, but you really DO need to know whats there now. like i said, my damage was alot more extensive than i ever could have possibly thought. you just need to really know now,not later when things have really gotten bad. you may not actually need surgey at all,but that would depend upon just what is actually damaged in there. believe me,you don't want to try and just 'live' with this stuff,it will progress. just find it all out now,not when you simply cannot even use the arm anymore becasue of severe pain or actual tears in tendons that will simply no longer move for you anymore. just get it looked into with that MRI before deciding anything about it. this will dictate your next step for you. i do wish you lots of luck with this. please let me know about that MRI if you decide to have one.
