Arrow Abdominal pain --> Will Endoscopy helps ?

Hi,

Really thanks for your time for reading this thread.

I am posting on behalf of my dear girlfriend.
1) She has frequent abdominal pain and is visiting the doctor for 2nd time next Tuesday, and she is quite scared to know any negative information from the doctor.
2) She likes to eat sashimi, but everytime she when she takes sashimi, the pain will come.
3) She also eat very little, and yet she often say her stomach is very bloated.
4) She fainted recently in a public place and thank God she has no injury in her hear.

She had her first endoscopy scan 3 years ago, and it was fine, thank God. (i wasn't with her that time, and i have just got together with her 1 month ago after knowing her for few years, if you have a love one that you care, i think probably you will know how much i care for her, in one way or another, you can relate to me)

She was told by the Dr. that her stomach is sensitive to certain kind of food, the doctor told her not to drink milk, no spicy food. To be honest, i am totally not convinced by that kind of "answer", so i decided invest time in this and hopefully to get some answers here, whether you are a Dr, or just some kind soul at the other end of the globe, i hope you could help me by giving me better understanding on this if you have similar encounter like this.

Really thank you for your precious time.

Re: Abdominal pain --> Will Endoscopy helps ?

Welcome to health boards, Vzent . . . it is very possible that your girl friend has food and even additive sensitivities. I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and have through years of tracking what I eat and my symptoms discovered things that I should never eat.

I have to avoid fruits and fruit juices (except bananas) because of acids, additives in lunch meat products and a lot of frozen foods, MSG (monosodium glutamate) and anything fast food that is fried.

I was in my late twenties when I developed this condition and I believe it was brought on by stress.

The endoscopy will be a great thing to rule out anything serious. If she is having trouble after eating certain foods, she needs to quit eating them and see if she feels better. After a while, you get to where you no longer even desire to eat the things that cause you trouble.

Let us know how you two do!

Re: Abdominal pain --> Will Endoscopy helps ?

Hi Lindaru, thanks for the reply.

"I have to avoid fruits and fruit juices (except bananas) because of acids, additives in lunch meat products and a lot of frozen foods, MSG (monosodium glutamate) and anything fast food that is fried." --> this is similar to my gf's situation !!!

Someone actually suggested that my gf should go for the scanning of helicobacter pylori, a kind of bacteria that cause the problem.

As for now, i have narrow down to two possbilities - Hiatus Hernia and IBS. I will print out the materials that i found on internet and need to have a good chat with the doctor.

i will update you after the Endoscopy on Tuesday, i really appreciate you for taking time to reply to my post, thank you so much.

I will look forward to finding out what they say. If you need any further help (if it turns out to be IBS), let me know.

It will help but you should try to consult a doctor or specialist on a case like that.
