Painful red rash on underarms - General Health Message Board

My husband battles skin issues alot, currently he has painful red rash in his underarms. He went to the Dr a couple months ago and they told him to use an antifungle cream, which he did, and use a medicated powder, which he did. The rash is still there and very painful, has anyone one else gone through this? and what have you done? He has stopped using his depderant and that has done nothing, we have had no change in soap or laundry stuff. I really feel bad, he has sensitive skin, he is always getting rashes on his face and pssisoris(sp) looking stuff on his scalp, He has been to many drs but ntohing seems to help.

Is there any possibility your husband could have shingles? You might do a search and see if you can look at pictures. It's extremely painful. If it's not shingles and isn't responding to anti-fungal meds., I'd ask a few other questions: do you use any sort of fabric softener? They are known skin irritants for sensitive skin. Do you use scent-free laundry detergent? My dermatologist only recommends two body soaps: Dove and Ivory. I prefer Dove and have used it for years. The last thing I would ask is could he possibly be allergic to his own sweat? If you've been to lots of doctors, you've probably been through all of this. My daughter has had lots of skin problems and I know it's painful and terribly frustrating. Good luck and think about the shingles thing. You can get them anywhere, you know.
