Pain coming back after shoulder decompression - General Health Message Board

I had arthroscopic shoulder decompression surgery about 8 months ago. Between the surgery and PT, my shoulder eventually became pain free for the first time in over a year.

A couple weeks ago, the pain started coming back. This has been really frustrating for me. I know I will be dealing with this problem for the rest of my life.

I have never had any shoulder injuries. My shoulder pain is caused by my rotator cuff being too loose and coming out of the socket a bit when I move my shoulder. The surgery was to create a bit more room so my tendons weren't as pinched when my shoulder is subluxing. That resulted in tendonitis and bursitis. The PT and at home exercises were supposed to help tighten things some to keep my shoulder in place better.

Anyone out there had this surgery and problems after it healed?

hi MR. so sorry you are back in pain after everything you have already gone thru. have you ever tried myofascial release therepy? honestly,since i was started in the post op rehab after my rotator repair surgery i have been seeing the same therepist i had been seeing for this therepy a few months before that tendon snapped. it was the very best move i could have made,believe me. becasue of how much real direct impact that surgery and the non use then the PT has on just the muscles,tendons and the very important fascial covering that will tighten up on you when it is injured or traumatized or merely imflammed,it DOES make a huge difference when you can get this all released.

i have been seeing my PT on a pretty regular basis just for pain control with my c spine issues along with him still keeping that shoulder working. i have some bone pain but overall,i KNOW i would not be where i am without the myo release therepy,i know that. it just helps so much MR,really. i seriously would try and track down a therpist who does this therepy and has alot of years of experience in doing it. my whole body has benefitted from this in some pretty big ways since i am a mess in here.

i would at least give this a try and see what you think or how you feel after like one month. i am sure it will have some impact just based upon what my shoulder was like and where it is now. this just keeps the outside covering of the muscles much more loose and flexable which also reduces the pain from trigger points that also just develop from the muscle/fascia crap. do just a bit of research on fascia and read exactly where it is and how it functions too. this will really kind of show you just how important it is and how much real body organ,muscle is involved with fascia covering around them. just about everything we have in our bodies is covered in fascia and it is all one big interconnected spider web like sheet. once you understand those basics of fascia you will see how important the release therepy can be in helping with your pain and function. this really has kept me going MR. good luck and please keep me posted on how you are doing. just an FYI here. when looking up about fascia? put in "fascia body organs" or you will end up with a ton of results for soffits and gutters and fascia,not what we want. been there done this.
