Hello, I'm not really sure where to post this as I don't know what the exact problem is.
My stomach is constantly growling, so much (and loud) that it is a problem. I started a job that requires me to be around people in silence for eight hours a day, because of this I have started to eat like crazy to keep it from growling and am now gaining weight. I'll eat at 7:30 and by the time 9 rolls around it's making obnoxiously loud noises. I can feel it start to build up, kind of like my stomach is tensing up? It isn't gas or anything like that and it usually comes from higher up rather than lower down. I eat when I'm not even hungry to stop it for a while. I've tried adding more fiber to my diet and drinking lots of water but neither helped.
Also I'm not sure if this could be linked with it but no matter how much I sleep I feel tired, achy and get headaches. I can also get pretty moody (which used to be really out of character for me).
If anybody has any suggestions to help this or if anyone has had the same problem.. anything feedback would be helpful! Thank you!
What are you eating? Are you eating a protein so that it will sustain you for a longer period of time? Carbs will go right through you. Try eating proteins and see if that doesn't help. Meats and cheeses, yoghurt..I eat eggs in the morning and they will stay with me far longer than cereal and toast will....
give it a try
The medical term for unusually loud stomach noise is Borborygmus.
Hypothyroidism can cause gastro motility problems and fatigue, headaches, moodiness, etc.
H. Pylori can cause increased gastro noise.
There are many home remedies for it, very little medical science. A teaspoon of olive oil is supposed to release fatty acids which in turn slow the contractions of the stomach and small intestine. I have no idea if that actually works though, sorry.
Hmm.. I had a bunch of thyroid tests done when I was 15 (about 8 years ago) and they all came back fine. I had a full blood work done about two years ago too and it was fine. Do you think I should ask my doctor about it? Thanks for the great answers. I'm going to go look up some more stuff on olive oil, that's kind of interesting.

i deal with this everyday, and coming from a small town i thought i was the only one.. i still dont know why my stomach is always going off tho. im currently in the process of making an appointment with a specialist.. and i really feel uncomfortable in silent places with people
blackmoon i also live with this problem everyday let me know if u found out what was wrong with u plz
I haven't found anything that helps much. I bought some low sugar protein powder and I'll mix about 1 1/2 scoops in a water bottle and drink some of it every little bit, that seems to keep it from growling for a little bit. I also take some psyllium husk and put it in water and drink that, which will help for a little bit too (it only has about 15 calories so it helps with filling you up without all the extra stuff).
I've heard from a few people that if you have a lot of acid in your stomach it can make the growling worse, I tried tums which didn't really help but I've been thinking about getting some Prilosec and seeing if that helps.
Now if your stomach is growling and it's more of the digestive type noises, try taking some acidophilus, that will help take a lot of those noises away.
I can so relate to this. I experience everything you do and it's driving me crazy as I too have to work in a quiet enviroment every day. What's more it gets worse around that time of the month, which I find somewhat strange. I have no answers and the medical profession do not seem to be interested.
yes i know.. the doctors around here do nothing or little for me. im actually going to the doctor today to ask for an ultra sound on my galbladder hopefully i can figure this out. also i find pasta and breads are the only foods thats well fill me whick doesnt last long either
