Help me please :)

I wasn't really sure where to post this, as I don't know what it is or even if it's anything to worry about.

Basically, I used to sometimes get really tired, like i'm fighting to stay awake and slowly losing. Then all of a sudden, I'd come round, feel really refreshed and not tired any more (really suddenly).

Well that's happening a lot more frequently now, like almost everyday. It's bugging me to hell. I've noticed a few more things too.

I seem to be using the toilet a lot more than I used to before this got more frequent, and my mood's getting a lot worse aswell. I feel down a lot more than I did before this got worse.

Just thought someone here might have some suggestions or something to help me find out what it is (or if it is even anything).

I don't have diabeties or anything like that, but I did read somewhere and Hyperglycaemia has some of those symptoms.

Thank You for any help you can give .

Re: Help me please :)

Have you done internet searches for narcolepsy? It takes different forms in each individual, but it could be a possibility. Check out the symptoms and keep a journal for a couple weeks, see how they match up. You'll have something to take to your doctor and they'll be better able to diagnose you. Sleep problems are awful because it affects every aspect of your life. Don't give up! They'll be able to help you, but they'll need your help during this difficult time. Let us know how it's going.

Re: Help me please :)

First, are you getting enough sleep? You sound sleep deprived. The front part of your brain is struggling to go to sleep, and it can win before you're even aware of it. (Which can cause dangerous car accidents.) Look at how much sleep you're getting every night, and how you feel in the morning. If you snore or wake up frequently during the night, you might have sleep apnea, which means you're getting alot less sleep than you think you are.

If you're drinking more caffeine than usual, that can make you go to the bathroom more frequently too.

Otherwise I agree that big fluctuations in blood sugar could be causing these symptoms. Get blood tests for sugar, insulin, thyroid, etc. to see if there are any answers there. My tests revealed that I'm borderline Insulin Resistant (potentially metabolic syndrome X) and my doctor suggested the South Beach Diet, for weight loss, mood and energy. I learned some great tips that help me even when I don't follow the whole diet.

Most important: To keep your blood sugar stable, never eat sugar or carbs by themselves. If you eat them with protein, fat, or fiber, they don't enter your blood stream as quickly. A low carb diet might give you more energy and improve your concentration.

When I'm having trouble concentrating or staying awake, I used to grab some cookies. But now I find that it is much more effective to take a short walk outside, or walk up and down the stairs a few times.
