i just wanted to find out what reaction do you get when you have low calcium, i have went to the doctor and my x- ray was normal but i am noticing that i have a little numbness on my right foot my last 3 toes. is that because of low calcium? my doctor recommed that i take 1500 mg of calcium as well as vitmin D. thank you

Re: low calcium syptoms

No expert here, but based on my brief research the market is flooded with calcium products. Buyer beware -- do your research.

Calcium itself is relatively insoluble and very hard to absorb from supplements, particularly those huge rock-hard tablets -- encapsulated powered forms seem to be preferred.

Also, choose a calcium that won't upset your stomach, calcium in general is notorious for this.

Get the right amount of Vitamin D -- D is necessary for calcium absorption. Hopefully your doc informed you of the necessary mg's of Vitamin D you should be taking.

Re: low calcium syptoms

Numbness is not a symptom of low calcium.

The feeling of "pins and needles" in feet and/or hands and carpopedal spasms (feels like your toes or fingers are curling up) are.
