ok, i am a 19 years old (male), two weeks ago i noticed my bottom front or my left chest was sticking out a bit, at first i thought i must of slept funny or something, but two weeks later it is still there, it sticks out about a one or two centimeter, hard for other people to notice unless i get the angle right or lie down, but strangely it seems to be my left ribs, i have not noticed any pain from it apart from when i spent a night poking & rubbing it gave me bruised left ribs for a day or two lol, after it reached its size i have not noticed it changing anymore.
at times i have also felt what seems to be my ribs moving or the feel of rumbling/grinding inside/on my left ribs, it fist happened a week after having swollen like left ribs, when i was lying against the wall on my bed watching TV, at first i heard it & was trying to listen where it was coming from in my room as i didn't notice it was me, in my mind i was like, "what is that?", then i felt it like grinding/bubbling/rumbling inside/on my left ribs? (a bit hard to explain what it was like) it lasted about 7 -10 seconds, at first i as like, "yay my ribs moved back in, got up, to see it was still there though it felt strangely better (though it could of been because i thought had felt it disintegrate back into my chest lol), but that did make it ache for the next day, then back to being painless.
The last two days i have been taking Ibuprofen to see if that affects my ribs, i am not very in shape or active & over the last few years i have gone from 11 stone to almost 16 stone & am 6 foot tall & my diet is terrible, i spend a lot of time on the computer laying on my left side with my elbow on my bed, which i cant imagine being a very good posture, i am planning to go hospital next week to see what it is, i do not want to tell my mother until i know what it is, this is as i would not like to stress her out as she finds her work very stressful.
to be honest this makes no difference to my day apart from the constant worry of it being there, i can still sleep on my left side at night but can feel it a bit, i would be thankful for any posts back about information on what it could possibly be, if u have the same thing, or have any advice, maybe exercises for it, good way to sleep as it it there, diet or anything you would like to mention. i will reply to any questions asked & keep this thread informed of the situation & what i find out at hospital as many previous threads do not. < edited >
Thank you for reading & responses, cheers

Well may i ask have you been to the Doctors or Hospital yet over it??if so what have they said or advised??Well i have something similar but its hard to describe i guess but i try mine is on my right side and its like when i stand up and lean to my left the left side looks normal, when i do it on the right side from my hip to say by top of my pubic bone but on the right its swells out a bit i have been to the Doctor and she felt it and said it seems ok and said cause i am skinny it could be my bowels showing from under my skin and i have had ultra sounds near by it and maybe on it but not requested that was due to my main problem what i have which is frequent urination but i am sure they what have noticed something it gives me no problems only that sometimes i notice it goes down a bit but a bit harder feeling if i play football,so i was wondering could it be same to what i am going through but i am sorry if i aint been much help but i say get it checked out if you aint already, best of luck to you.
Re: Abnormal Left Bottom Ribs, Painless Swollen/Lump
i said i would post the results found, according to the doctor it seems to be my floating rib, however i have IBS (Irateable bowl symdrome), which from mental sstress of the lump could made it worst, the doctor said you should not have anything to worry about, keep an eye on it but everything seems ok.
Re: Abnormal Left Bottom Ribs, Painless Swollen/Lump
went to doctors in the end, he said, it just seems to be your floating rib, however i have been diagnosed with irratabe bowl syndrome, which can be solved by Colpermin or buscopan, keep an eye on it but i feel you should have nothing to worry about
Re: Abnormal Left Bottom Ribs, Painless Swollen/Lump
I don't know if we have the same thing but- I noticed about a year ago that I had a noticable lump on the left side of my abdomen directly beneath the rib cage. I was so worried I went to the doctor, because the lump is quite pronounced and it extends over hallf my abdomen. The (embarrassing) prognosis? Subcutaneous fat. The doc had a fancier term for it, but that's what it was. Apparently sometimes we don't get fat evenly.
Not sure about the rest of it. If you really are concerned, you should ask your doctor.
