I was just wondering what could have caused this bite I have on my leg, and what I should do for it.
It is on the inside of my left knee and about an inch and a half wide. It is completely round, and VERY red. It hurts really bad, and itches a little. It feels like there is pressure built up inside it (almost like a pimple). Upon further examination I found that the bite had what looked like a center it in, so I squeezed it gently and out popped a bunch of puss. (Yuck). The puss was yellow and milky and the release of the puss only made the bite hurt more.
How it happened:
I don't know.. While I was sleeping maybe? I noticed the bite two days ago and it has not gotten any better.
I am terrified of spiders... So PLEASE say that it was just an innocent bug and not some nasty eight legged creep. But I'm not sure what I should do for it. I don't want to waste medical resouces unless needed. Should I see a doctor for this bite? Or is there something I can do for it at home?
It doesnt sound like a bug bite to me at all. It sounds like it might be a MRSA infection. To know for sure, you'll need the doctor to inspect the area and maybe culture the wound.
I had an area exactly as you describe on my chin. I waited too long and it ended up needing to be surgically opened and drained. I also needed heavy doses of antibiotics. Go early to prevent any additional problems. MRSA is everywhere in the community and its nothing to take lightly.
I agree that sounds like it could be a MRSA infection, although if it spreads rapidly it could in fact be something like a brown recluse bite, although I think you would probably be in the hospital already if that was the case. Either way this needs a doctor's attention. At least antibiotics so the infection doesn't go into your bloodstream.
When I get a bee or wasp or spider or red ant bite, I dose it in a paste of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda and salt; cover it completely and let it sit for hours, and retreat that night and the following day. Great stuff. Works every time for me. Takes away the pain and the problem.
