hi

ive had mono twice and both times the major symptom i had was this weird feeling that my brain wasn't connected to my eyes and muscles and that everything that was happening around me wasn't real.

often, id feel like things were happening simply as a product of my thoughts, as if i was in the matrix or something.

the thing is, ive been feeling this way for a few months now, since the last time i was diagnosed with reactive mono..

i know this sounds crazy, but does anyone have any idea what is causing my mental confusion?

It's a common symptom of a variety of psychiatric and neurological disorders called Derealization and/or Depersonalization.

I've had it before and it's eerie to say the least. It's not dangerous, although it can trigger a panic attack if you don't know what's going on.

Most people will have one or two minor episodes in their lifetime, even sleep problems and simple stress can cause brief derealization.

id been wondering if i was going crazy and now all i read online about derealization completely fits, thank you! but how can i treat it? i dont feel any particular stress or anxiety, does it just go away with time?
