I've been having a sore throat for more than 6 months now. It's not very painful, but I can feel it most of the time, some days more than others. It looks inflamed and eroded and it has what looks like pustules on the back. One of my tonsils has been swollen the whole time. I've had a few sinus infections in the meantime and I've taken antibiotics for that and it helped. My nose is consistently producing mucus. I'm 24 years old and otherwise healthy. I exercise, I don't smoke and I rarely drink. Also, my ENT has confirmed it's not an allergy. I guess I'm just looking to see if anyone has had a similar problem or if anyone has any general advice.

Could it possibly be something in the air you're breathing in without realizing it? Dust, mold, etc. can have quite an effect on your system. I live in an older home and have had troubles with my eyes, skin, and throat. It took me two years to figure this out. This is only an idea for you to think about. Have a good night
I had similar throat issues for about a year until they went away. I had what are called "tonsil stones." They started out as just annoying and it felt like something was stuck in my throat and was scratching me. Then they got worse and would be very painful and I'd lose my voice quite often. I could also sometimes see and taste a little bit of blood. Doctors were not able to help me out the different times I visited them. One time they told me I had strep throat (even though I didn't have a fever and ALL symptoms were involving my throat) and give me antibiotics. It seemed to go away, but came right back. After another trip to the doctor, they said no, it isn't strep and it's a sensitivity to something. After I moved from the area, my throat improved. For me, it had to be something in the air. I didn't really seem to get much allergies, but perhaps it was all throat allergies. Now I get mostly sinus pressure, but my throat hardly ever gets the tonsil stones.
If it doesn't go away, getting your tonsils removed may be the only way you get relief. You can use throat sprays or sore throat drops for now, but they won't cure the problem. I used these to help with the pain on bad days. My throat would also get pretty red. The tonsil stones started off very small and would get larger with time. I could nearly poke them out with a finger, but that hurt too and then a new one would form pretty soon after. What a pain!
Sounds very much like chronic tonsilitis. I had inflamed tonsils for years, repeated strep throat infections, and pus-filled pockets in my tonsils. I was on antibiotics for 3 months to kill off a strep infection.
You didn't say if the pustules are on your tonsils or the back of your throat.
You need to see a doctor for sure. You should be tested for strep and you probably need to have your tonsils removed.
I know my son had the same problem for 8 months, we tried everything, our GP prescribed a new antibiotic every month but to no avail. As soon as the meds stopped his throat worsened. Finally we had a ear, throat and nose specialist take a look. He said 'Say Ahhhhh' Son did and Doc said yep tonsils need to go! 5 second checkup.
You don't have to be wrong for me to be right.
