I am now looking at the bigger picture

Hi All

I am 43 and have been having a range of symptoms over the last few years that I have been to the docs with for each symptom. I spent 3 months in hospital last year and am still none the wiser as to what my problem is, however, this was only for gastro problems. I have now started to look at my symptoms as being perhaps one illness and I wondered if anybody could point me in a direction of what this illness might be. Some of the symptoms are:

Headache similar to migraine
Neck pain
Dizziness
Constipation or diarrhoea
Back pain
Stomach pain
Extreme fatigue
Painful joints
Sickness
Bloating

I would like to hear your thoughts no matter how bad or mad they are. Cheers

Jeanette

Re: I am now looking at the bigger picture

Hi, I believe your headaches, neck pain, dizziness and back pain are all related to each other. I have dealt with these almost my entire life, and still get treatment for them. I go to physcial therapy to have the muscles in my upper back and neck worked on, as they are tight and causing me dizzy spells. Your painfull joints may be arthritis, which is what I have also. Damp heat helps but laying in the tub can get old for the pain relief! A warm dry climate makes me feel great. Where I live, with the winters, is terrible for this with the snow storms, and cold damp days. The stomach pain, bloating, constipation and diarrhea also all may be related to what you are eating. I ended up with stomache pain, diarrhea, and bloating out of the blue after eating certain things. The pains got so bad, I went to the ER and I was diagnosed with an ulcer, put on prilosec twice a day, a very bland diet, and told to stay away from any milk or milk products, high fat or fried foods, starchy foods such as potatoes really set me off, spicey foods, fruits because of the acids in them, raw vegetables etc. I did well on oatmeal and whole grain toast for breakfast, a bland high fiber diet the rest of the day, and this took care of all of my symptoms. Good luck to you in finding relief.

Re: I am now looking at the bigger picture

Hi Jeanette,

My assessment is not very different from that of Kasey443. I have divided all of your symptoms into two groups. It could be three I suppose but I narrowed it down to two as follows:

ARTHRITIS:
* Headaches (possibly caused by painful arthritic flair-ups)
* Neck pain
* Back pain
* Painful joints

IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS)
* Constipation or diarrhea
* Stomach pain (the result of constipation etc.)
* Bloating
* Extreme fatigue (the result of IBS)
* Sickness (the result of IBS)
* Dizzyness (caused by dehydration due to diarrhea)
