Help: Self-test Kernig's sign? Possible meningitis? Or just a delusion
So I've been having sort of a light, persistent headache for months now, dizziness, nausea, seemingly incapable of deep, productive thought like I'm taking stupid pills or something. Because I don't want to look like a hypochondriac, I want to at least have an idea if I'm just being crazy.
On a hunch, I attempted to check the Kernig's sign (supine, 90 degree hips, passive extension of knee upward, in this case with my own arms) and it seemed like I couldn't get past 135 degrees. But it's hard to tell when you're lifting your own leg and laying with your head flat against the ground. I did Lasegue’s sign and it hurt and stopped when I flexed my knee. But I always figured this is how it normally is?
Shouldn't this hurt regardless? I'll get someone to actually do a quick Kernig's thingy sometime today if it really seems like there's a problem here (and follow up with a checkup to the doctor if it truly is necessary), but like I said, it'll look retarded if I'm going on and on about lifting my leg up when there's nothing wrong...
