Hi, im a 14 year old girl, i've had really bad right side pain basically since new years. Then, it was just an annoyance but its gradually gotten worse and worse.
The pain is in the lower right, and it gets very terrible at times, like theirs a knife in it.
About 4 weeks ago my mom took me to the doctor at the state health department. I saw the nurse practitioner, who drew blood, did urine tests, said everything was normal and to call again if i kept on and she would order a KUB. Well, low and behold it kept feeling worse, and when my mom called two days later she said she wanted us to come back in to see the doctor. So we drove through a snowstorm to be told that it was nothing to worry about and to take advil and hot baths.
We decided to take the doctors word for it but it's just kept feeling worse... my mom switched my primary care to my dad's doctor. She called trying for the soonest appointment but the doctor was out of town so we saw another doctor in that office.
She took labs and ordered an ultrasound. They found a tiny cyst on my LEFT side, so we scheduled an appointment for this past wednesday. The doctor said that the cyst was so tiny it shouldnt be causing this much pain especially on the right. He pressed on me, (hurt.) he pulled my leg up and turned it (HURT) then he tapped the bottom of my foot (hurt) and he pressed on my left side (HURT the right side.)
He sent us straight to the hospital for a CT. Little did i know it was a barium enema. I was in a world of pain becasue i felt the fluid hit the spot thats hurting and i was in severe pain the rest of the day. They sent us home and he called that evening saying the CT didnt help him any but when my mom told him about it hurting me when it hit that spot he got more concerned and said they were taking more steps. I went in yesterday and they took 4 tubes of blood, all came back normal. I have an appointment monday morning... Im not sure how much longer i can take this pain (its that bad.) Im behind on school (im homeschooled) and all ive done the past month is just lay around on the recliner. i have no life.
So my question is, could it be my appendix even though all tests are negative? Thanks.
PS Please share any experiences you've had with appendicitis whether they're like mine or not. Thanks for taking the time to read this

I am sooooo sorry you are in pain. I wish I knew more about what could be causing it.
Someone here, hopefully, will be able to give you some advice.
The fact that your foot and leg hurt when pressed is really weird.
Do you feel any relief when in a hot bath tub? Do you have any back problems?
Thanks Ill be okay im just hoping they get to the bottom of this soon..
Soaking in a hot bath helps a little bit, but not too much. I dont have any back probs that i know of..
They have me on 600 mg ibuprofen which isnt helping much anymore
its deep inside...cause when they did the enema for my ct i felt the liquid going through my colon and it hit something and it HURT (sorry for the grossness)
No apology needed. What's gross is the pain you're in.
It just doesn't sound like appendicitis. You're not having nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite or temperature, are you? And the pain is on the left, not the right.
Have they checked you for any female problems like a cyst on an ovary?
ive had a ton of nausea and some temps...and actually the pain is on the right, they had found a tiny ovarian cyst on the left. doc said that cyst was nothing significant and since im hurting so much on the right, he said the cyst wouldnt be consistent with this kinda pain...
I really hope we find out something soon..idk how im gonna make it until monday
Oh, I must have misread your OP. I thought pain was on the left.
Yes, it could be appendicitis, but it seems that the tests would have indicated.
Have you tried fasting, just to see if the pain stops? I'm really worried about you.
Are you here in the US?
Well I haven't had much of an appetite lately because of the nausea (which is highly unusual, I'm a big eater) but the pain doesn't seem to get any better, only worse. I'm trying to remind myself that it's only two more days until my appt but that seems like an eternity right now.. Yes I live in the US in tennessee
thanks for the support (: I dont think my mom will let us leave without answers this time...i hope monday ill be able to tell you that ive found out what's wrong and everything. Ill let you know what i find out.

There's something called "silent appendicitis" that can be harder to diagnose. It's due to the appendix being located in a different spot in the abdomen than it is in most people. Medically, it's called "retrocecal appendicitis". Have your mom mention it to the doc on Monday to see if that might be the problem.
Hope you get a definite answer and feel better soon!

Thank you both for your support and answers... I just got home from the appointment i had today.
Really the dr has no clue. He said it may come down to the point that they do a laparotomy to explore and look... Right now hes just having me to have a full abdominal scan tommorrow. I have to drink that yucky stuff, lol. Im hoping they find something or figure something out based on it...
I'll keep everyone posted (:

yes it is one of very sensitive topic b'coz its giving a lot of pain when infected by appendix. Appendicitis is a medical emergency that requires prompt surgery to remove the appendix. Left untreated, an inflamed appendix will eventually burst, or perforate, spilling infectious materials into the abdominal cavity.
Hi has an ice pack been tried? Sometimes moist heat for 3 minutes followed by cold 30 seconds and alternated for 4 cycles ending with cold and drying well, resting for an hour may help. Also sometimes with abdominal pain I have heard that an activated charcoal pack mixed with hops can help abdominal pain. If interested in the directions let me know. Of course everyone makes their own choices.
