wrist sprain

How long does it take a moderate level wrist sprain to heal on average? The doctor at the clinic told me to wear a splint for 1-2 weeks. My sprain is a bit over a week old and still feels pretty much the same as it did a week ago. In addition to the splint, I'm taking prescription anti-inflammatories and icing a couple times a day.

I've had on & off tendonitis and myofacial issues in my shoulder and elbow in this arm, but the sprain is a new thing.

Any info would be welcome.

Thanks,
MountainReader

Re: wrist sprain

Nothing is broken, is it? I don't know how old you are, but it seems that the older I get the longer it takes to heal these kinds of things.

Re: wrist sprain

I'm 40. The doctor said probably nothing broken since the bones it is rare to break bones in this part of the wrist without direct trauma. I actually sprained my wrist bowling. Ironically, I was wearing a wrist brace when it happened.

Thanks for responding. The doctor at my clinic didn't say what I should do after 1-2 weeks in the splint. I'm assuming more of the same.

I did buy some soft end thera-putty to start working it a bit as it heals.
