10 month old possible dehydration?

My 10 month old daughter has had diaherra since yesterday and today its even worse. she cant keep anything in. even one drink of something comes right back out but seems to be more then she put in. its covering her clothes and has had to have several baths today. How can I tell if she is dehydrated? under her eyes is very dark and her mouth is dry. Can anyone help?

Re: 10 month old possible dehydration?

Those are signs that she is becoming or already is dehydrated.
You must call her doctor at once for advice so that it doesn't get worse.

Re: 10 month old possible dehydration?

Please let us know how she is. Dehydration can be very bad in youngsters and older folks.

Best wishes...JJ

Re: 10 month old possible dehydration?

will do, hopefully she isnt so bad that she has to stay over night and get an IV. she gets keloid scars and that will just add to them but i cant make her drink. shes not old enough to bribe or reason with so its so difficult and what she does drink comes right back out.

Re: 10 month old possible dehydration?

Even if she does have to stay overnight it will be for the best as she needs to get fluids into her. As I said, severe dehydration can be dangerous.

Big hugs, and good luck...JJ....

Re: 10 month old possible dehydration?

She was dehydrated. they pushed fluids in her for 3 hours and she was great after that. now if we can get the bronchitis under control and the ear infections we will be doing good.

Re: 10 month old possible dehydration?

I'm glad she's doing better.
I think if I were you, I'd try finding a pediatrician that does have an after hours number!

Re: 10 month old possible dehydration?

Awwww, poor baby....Glad they at least got the dehydration under control. She must feel so miserable with bronchitis and an ear infection. Thanks so much for updating us, and sure hope she feels better soon.

JJ....
